This portfolio is made up of companies that have consistently demonstrated the ability to increase sales and earnings, and improve their cash flow and book values over multiple economic cycles. I carefully study company filings including quarterly and annual reports to find stocks that match my criteria for growth potential.
My screening process helps me identify companies that meet specific criteria for growth, cash generation and other metrics. I then value these businesses using a discounted cash flow model and buy their stocks when the market price indicates sufficient upside potential. My Fundamental Growth portfolio is long-only and invests in companies of all capitalizations.
I use screens to identify industries and companies that show consistent earnings power over multiple economic cycles.
Then, I rate stocks using a proprietary matrix of various fundamental, quantitative, and technical factors. Some of these factors include above average earnings per-share growth rates, above average return on equity, excess free cash flow, low debt-to-equity ratios, and shareholder friendly management.
Finally, I review the company's original source material including quarterly and annual reports. I also participate in quarterly conference calls and webcasts and read independent analyst reports in an effort to buy value stocks at opportune times.
My research helps me to diversify the portfolio’s holdings across multiple sectors. I often will have different weightings for each sector, as compared to the S&P 500 Index.
I sell positions when the original reason for the purchase no longer exists or when my research is telling me that stocks are overvalued. Sell determinations are made on a case-by-case basis.

Performance of the portfolio manager's account is calculated by Covestor on a daily time-weighted basis, including cash, dividends and earnings distributions and broker commissions. Manager returns include trades and positions that fail Covestor's trading rules, as a result, actual client returns will differ. Covestor advisory fees are simulated and applied retro-actively to present the portfolio return "net-of-fees".
Average client returns are calculated by Covestor and are composed of the average, time-weighted returns of all active client investments (some of which may contain investment restrictions) to the underlying portfolio. These daily average returns are then linked together for the timeframe presented. These returns include cash, dividends, earnings distributions, brokerage commissions and Covestor advisory fees.
All graph data is as of the end of day for the referenced period, unless otherwise specified. The investment minimum is the minimum investment required to follow a particular portfolio.
