Innovative Companies

Concentration primarily in technology companies, but will own any economic sector as long as the company is leading-edge or unique.
Model focuses on new ideas from leading-edge or unique companies in any economic sector, but will focus on technology companies.  Prefers US-based companies with some international operations.  Considers fundamental factors an important consideration, but primarily uses technical analysis to determine buy and sell levels.
The majority of stock selections are made after following a company for years; this gives a "technical feel" for how the stock reacts in market cycles. Research includes listening to company events or conference calls. It's not what they say that gives you insight, but rather what they don't say or their insinuations. The manager prefers "no excuses" management that's focused on growing the company no matter what economic conditions exist.

Research also includes periodicals, public or paid research newsletters, SEC and financial websites. Always considers technical chart analysis before buy/sell decisions.
Depending on the size of the investment account, the approach to allocation will probably be aggressive for most people. Maximum of 15 stocks for the Portfolio, but allocation to the top performing stock with excellent fundamental and technical patterns may exceed 60%, while overall allocation to the top 5 stocks could exceed 90% during major market moves.
Sell decision is determined by setting short-term or long-term price objectives based on technical analysis. However, negative company fundamentals could result in a sale, if the event could be more than a one time occurance.

Prefers to hold a stock for long-term taxable events, but understands that general market environment or economic factors may not be ideal for the longer holding period; these circumstances may influence sell decision.
None.
