We take a global view and will invest in domestic or international companies listed on U.S. exchanges that we believe provide legitimate financial reporting and exhibit reasonable liquidity. Given global volatility and the potential compression of secular and cyclical market drivers, we believe a top down view is warranted. However, we generally invest based on specific stock and sector fundamentals. Technical algorithms are utilized for tactical price confirmation. We may place small hedges via ETFs, but we believe the best way to combat volatility is to buy solid assets at deep discounts to the expected present value of risk and time-value weighted future cash flows. A portfolio that provides a competitive yield and maintains opportunistic cash will also reduce volatility.
