Investment Adviser - Portfolio manager Derek Pilecki at Gator Capital spent 11 years covering the Financials sector for major buyside investment management firms including Goldman Sachs Asset Management. He has a strong passion for investing and only builds portfolios that he would invest in himself.
Gator Capital believes in bottom-up, fundamental investing. Derek Pilecki focuses on companies with strong business franchises. His due diligence includes reading earnings releases and conference call transcripts, reviewing recent investment presentations and listening to other investors' reasoning about a potential investment. He often talks with a company's senior management before he invests in any given stock.
Gator Capital was founded in 2008 by Derek Pilecki. He launched the long-only investment strategies in 2008. The firm is based in downtown Tampa.
1. Performance of the Portfolio Manager's account is calculated by Covestor on a daily time-weighted basis, including cash, dividends and earnings distributions and broker commissions. Manager returns include trades and positions that fail Covestor's trading rules, as a result, actual client returns will differ. Covestor advisory fees are simulated and applied retro-actively to present the portfolio return "net-of-fees".
