Investment process
Gator Capital is a fundamentally driven, bottoms-up investment firm that focuses on companies with strong business franchises. Portfolio manager Derek Pilecki reads earnings releases and earnings conference call transcripts, reviews recent investment presentations and reads other investors thoughts about the company. Then, he talks with the company management to get questions answered. Finally, he writes his investment thesis in a short report and compares the prospective investment against all of existing holdings.
