Macro Plus Fundamentals

This model seeks capital appreciation through investment in equities with compelling valuations, fundamentals, and in strong secular growth trends. The manager may invest across a range of sectors and market capitalizations.
This model will not seek to trade equities at high frequency or for the very short term, but rather pursues a bottom-up fundamentals strategy in pursuit of long term capital appreciation. The model may adjust its cash position and core holdings as deemed prudent by the manager.
The manager approaches investments by first calculating the macroeconomic implications and secular trends impacting the equity. The model initiates positions only after fundamental analysis leaves the manager with conviction that intrinsic value will be added to the portfolio.
Typically the model will hold between five and twenty positions. Initial investments will not make up more than 20% of total model, including cash. The model will invest only in equities and non-leveraged ETFs. The model will not invest in international equities with market capitalizations less than $1 billion, equities or ETFs with less than 10,000 shares average daily trading volume, nor OTC or pink sheet equities. The model will hold only long positions. While this model may invest across market capitalizations (micro to large), the manager primarily focuses on market capitalizations below $10 billion and expects the model to reflect that orientation.
The manager closes positions when fundamentals, macroeconomics, or valuations no longer provide a desirable risk/reward to the model. Positions may also be closed when the manager sees better value elsewhere, including cash. Typical holding period is at least six months.

    23 April 2012

Apple has not even scratched the enterprise surface, and still has plenty of business to steal from Android in mobile.
