Increasing rate environment December 28, 2009
I bought shares in PST, an ETF 2x inverse to 10-Year Treasury prices, in October 2009 to gain exposure to increasing interest rates over the next 1-2 years. At the time of this writing (12/28/09) 10yr rates have spiked to 3.85%. It is my belief that with the huge amount of excess liquidity in federal reserves, the government at some point in the future will be forced to drain this excess forcing rates and inflation higher. I also use this as a hedge against the principal value of my fixed-income......
