I've got some modestly out-of-the-money retail puts (COST). All of my options are at least two months out which give me some wiggle room. The total amount invested in the options is less than 5% of my total portfolio.

Pacific != China October 15, 2007
There's a lot more to this equity fund than China. It's more about Australia and Japan last time I read the propsectus. I'd like exposure not only to non-US currencies but to a potentially resurgent Japanese economy if it picks up. That's the thesis here.

Another closed-ender October 15, 2007
Here's another closed-ender that took a hit around the time of the credit crisis. If I'd been REALLY sharp could have picked up for 15 but got in at 18 or so. The hedge against hits to NAV from market turmoil is some really solid dividends coming out of this one.

High yields' dip yields high yields October 15, 2007
Apologies for the title. In a nutshell, the pricing irregularities in Aug / Sep 2007 probably crammed down high yield corporate debt more than was fundamentally warranted. I bought on the dip with a view to hanging on for both income yield and capital appreciation when pricing returns to normal.
