Dont play oil stocks. Play oil services. September 01, 2007
The price of oil may go up, down and sideways for quite a long period of time. But regardless, it will most likely stay above $50 per barrel for the rest of our lives. Why short the Russell? September 01, 2007
I put this trade in a couple days ago and am down about 2%. I have to admit that timing the market is not my forte, but I believe the market needs to retest the lows established earlier in August. If it does, then I will cover for about 7% gain. If the market runs up another 5-6% then I will close out. For me this was just a hedge against a lot of the small cap positions in the portfolio during this volatile spot in the market.
