GD's long-term steady growth potential January 08, 2010
GD is a long-term hold for me as it is a massive company with secure revenues and potential for even further growth. The world is anything but peaceful and defense contractors will always be necessary; much of this rationale applies to other major aerospace/defense companies (which I considered along with GD) Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and L-3 Comm's (NYSE:LLL). GD's P/E and EPS are right in line with LMT and LLL, but it is currently cheaper than both.

Long play on Google is a Long play on Global Markets January 07, 2010
I think Google is a safe long-term play on an eventual global economic recovery. Despite the speculation surrounding the Nexus One, their core business model revolves around advertising revenue which currently gives GOOG an EPS figure that is well above that of MSFT, YHOO and AAPL and almost every other major tech company.
Every company with a fractionally sound marketing strategy is throwing money at Google and they are using this revenue to fund either R&D (Nexus One, Google Wave) or......
