Small Cap Quant

The strategy uses quantitative analysis on the U.S. equity market, concentrated in small caps. Only listed securities are considered.
A computer algorithm ranks equities according to a number of fundamental, technical and sentiment based criteria to provide a ranked list of alpha-generating stocks.

The model will invest in ADRs, but not ETFs.
The research is facilitated by the 3rd party software available at www.portfolio123.com. It contains 10 years of historic point-in-time data for backtesting, and uses data from Thomson Reuters. Only listed securities with minimum trading volume of $200,000/day and 10,000 shares/day and market capitalization of $50 million are considered.
The typical allocation is split approximately equally into 20 equity holdings. Positions are typically not trimmed or added to, and weightings may fluctuate according to market conditions, and if a position is sold it will be replaced using the cash from the proceeds, even if this results in a slight deviation from the 1/20 allocation.
When the rank of the given equity falls below a threshold criteria as determined by the algorithm, it is sold and replaced with a higher ranked equity.
If market conditions significantly deteriorate (i.e. a bear market) the strategy may go flat to preserve capital.
