Bargain banks and brokerages (XLF) August 13, 2007
It's not that often that Wall Street puts itself on sale, but I think the subprime lending madness has gone much too far. While I don't like to pick individual names, this sector bet seems a good one (although being able to purchase GS for 1/3 off is tempting).

My recent trip to Colombia and news I've followed on the region makes me want to be an investor here. This recently launched ETF offers the passive strategy I prefer generally while allowing me to make a regional bet. And the relatively low cost fits the strategy, too.

BRIC - what else do you need to know? July 30, 2007
If you want to get relatively cheap exposure to BRIC countries, this is a good vehicle to do it. Not sure if I like the concentration, but then again, I don't build the indexes, i just invest in them.
