Bear the Cost. May 29, 2010
I'm an optimist and, thus, I naturally tend to be long. However, this looming European debt crisis is very real and its implications are still difficult to assess... especially, regarding the extent of contagion to other asset classes. Therefore, I've recently been trying to hedge my portfolio by shorting debt related investments. I'm also bearish financials for obvious reasons. Palmitrage May 02, 2010
I jumped into Palm a little over 2 weeks ago with the intent to get some upside on the potential bid for the company. This was my first pure m&a play per se and it turned out ok. If I could do it over, I would have gotten in lower since I did have the chance. However, I only went in after I knew Frank Quattrone and GS where advising. Goldman's fiasco in the middle of it must have undoubtedly, and regretfully, tainted the process.

This Bear Bucks Like a Bull! November 15, 2008
Well, I am writing out of a need to vent my frustration and share what I've been looking at lately. I am frustrated by this Market being on its head. Everyone knows the US is headed for a slowdown. The measures taken by the US Government and other countries are sure to lessen the impact this time around, but no one knows for sure how long it will last. Especially with everyone now wanting to hit the Bailout "piñata." There is no doubt left we are in a Bear Market that started sometime ago......

Rubicon Minerals (RBY) was trading at a few cents over a $1 some 3 weeks ago. However, a press release on TUE 26-AUG about continued gold findings in their Red Lake, Ontario, property has gotten people's attention (+30%).
