Rollercoaster July 29, 2008
More back and forth with the indexes lately. I'm getting seasick watching the QID. I have noticed that QID, SKF, SDS, and DXD have been rising on decreasing volume for the past 3 trading days. The corresponding indexes have been dropping on decreasing volume as well. I would not be surprised to see a rally in the general markets either tomorrow or the next day. This may count as a possible follow-thru day if we get a close greater than 1.7%. That's what I'm waiting for. Medical and......

Market Rising on Bad News? July 22, 2008
The bad news has been everywhere lately. Just look at the tech sector which has been affected by the lagging economy. MSFT, GOOG, AAPL, RIMM, etc... have missed estimates or guided lower. The banks and finance stocks have been reporting additional write-offs. Wachovia, the fourth largest bank loses $9 billion, fires 10,000 plus employees, not to mention the recent earnings by the other banks and trouble with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The only good news lately is the drop in oil prices but......

The reversal yesterday and today's roller-coaster ride speaks of a weak market so I am more inclined to wait for a break to the upside on the QID. I am also only risking......

Metrics July 09, 2008
My primary reason for being here on Covestor is to track my own performance. Unfortunately it tracks my IRA and does not track my large cash positions during down markets. I know the metrics should smooth out over time to more accurately reflect my true portfolio, just discouraging to look at the current metrics.
