    The financial system is literally on life support. Fixed income markets are frozen solid.


    The "real" economy has been exposed to the virus that has demolished the financial system. Layoffs are mounting. Lehman and Bear Stearns laid off many. I heard 3K from XRX tonight. Layoffs from the MER/BofA deal and the JPM/WM deal are coming.


    Real estate prices continue to fall and that virus clearly has spread from residential to commercial real estate.

  • Phoenix, not Faux August 14, 2008

    Southwall (SWTX) reported strong sequential and year-over-year revenue growth and its highest quarterly revenue level in several years, despite having discontinued an unprofitable business segment that accounted for 25% of revenue not long ago. Profitability was strong for the quarter as management's cost-cutting efforts now have gained traction given the increase in revenue. Even the balance sheet is showing signs of mending.

  • Isn't This Too Cheap? July 31, 2008

    With the stock at $71, this is only 8.3x estimated 2009 earnings? And that includes a haircut of the consensus estimate from $8.73 to $8.50.


    Yeah, I know 08Q2 wasn't what the bulls were looking for, but it still was a very strong report.
