James Roberts

Individual Investor

I worked for a micro-cap value hedge fund as a research analyst for 8 years and then opted for semi-retirement while writing company research reports for StockDiagnostics.com and managing rental real estate for my former boss at the hedge fund

Investment style

The models will be driven by fundamental factors, including cash flows, ROE and increasing sales as applied to a particular universe of stocks.

How I got started

My father paid me for reading books of his choice rather than giving me an allowance when I was in high school. Most were non-fiction dealing with business, especially the stock market. I began investing on my own at 16. I was hired as a registered representative for a Wall St. investment broker at age 23.

Personal Interests

Tennessee is blessed with an abundance of water. TVA lakes, navigable rivers and creeks that sometimes look like rivers are commonplace. I enjoy motor boating on Dale Hollow Lake on the Kentucky-Tennessee border where we have a small cabin that seems to need constant attention. I love leisurely keeping it in acceptable condition. In response to escalating gas prices, I bought a peddling kayak for myself, and one for my wife. We enjoy navigating the 7-mile stretch of the Obey River between Dale Hollow Dam and the Cumberland River in them when the Corps of Engineers is releasing water to generate electricity.
