  • Getting more short in my IRA July 13, 2009

    Just wanted to update my rationale on DXRSX (which I guess you can say is the mutual fund version of TZA but only in spirit).  My market timing system is telling me that we are in for a downleg and since I was in DXRLX during most of the last upleg, I find it only logical to stick with it's exact inverse for the way down.  I had picked up some intending to get rid of it if my short term signal reversed but it never did, and now my signal has upgraded itself into a longer term signal.  So on the......

  • This was almost the most beat up thing I could find May 04, 2009

    My rationale here is pretty simple.  I went to Scottrade's website and looked at their mutual fund page.  I saw they were showing their top performers.  Since the timing signal I got was to go long in a bear market, I decided that I wanted to see what the worst 5 performers were.  The first few were REITS, and this one was a leveraged Small Cap fund.  I always heard that small caps would lead the way out of a recession and the market has been dropping since November 2007 so it's 2 year decline......
