Everyday Portfolio

At Everyday Capital Strategies, LLC the goal of our portfolio is to offer an equity investment strategy that is geared toward growth but demonstrates less volatility than the overall equity market.  The portfolio is uses an active trading approach, as opposed to passive buy and hold mutual fund or index funds that closely track the market's movements.
The goal is a straighter equity curve, without the peaks and valleys associated with much buy and hold investing. The Everyday Portfolio is typically invested in a broad array of ETF index funds tracking a large array of markets including foreign and domestic stocks, commodities, bonds, real estate, and currency. The portfolio consists of a cash proxy, 10 core assets and one "High Beta" Asset selected from a large subset of world markets. Read more about the strategy and the universe of potential holdings at http://www.everydaycapital.com/strategy.
Start with a portfolio of uncorrelated assets.  Identify assets in an uptrend and filter out assets in confirmed downtrends.  Rank the uptrending assets by volatility and total return.  Overweight leading assets and underweight underperforming assets.  Finally, assign a percentage weighting to each position so all assets contribute to volatility equally in the portfolio with more weighting given to leading assets.
Maximum percentage allocation to any one ETF holding is 24%, with an average allocation between 5% and 15% of the total portfolio.  For additional specifics please visit http://www.everydaycapital.com/historic-weightings.
The portfolio is rebalanced monthly at the close of the last business day of the month.
In extreme situations when all asset classes become correlated, the portfolio may reduce holdings as a emergency measure if the totally open volatility measurement is high.
