Don Merrell Profile Picture

Don Merrell

Individual Investor

I currently work as a real estate financial consultant. Prior to my current position, I was a Division President of a national homebuilder, and prior to that was regional CFO of a leading national homebuilder.

Investment style

Fundamentals-based, valuation approach.

How I got started

Upon first reading a mutual fund prospectus in 1982, I immediately became interested in the investment world. Around this time I was introduced to Berkshire Hathaway and Warren Buffett. I began reading everything I could on Buffett’s investments and investing philosophies, including Benjamin Graham's books “Security Analysis” and “The Intelligent Investor”. Ever since, I have been interested and actively involved in investing, managing my own portfolios.

Personal Interests

I am an avid golfer (attempted to go pro in my younger years), motorcycle dirt-bike rider (my Colorado home has some spectacular scenery covered quickly by dirt-bikes), reader, and family man with two children.
