Capital Ideas, Inc. is a Texas-based RIA established in 1984. CJ Brott and Karen Burns are the two founding principals. Both have access to many industry contacts from which to draw on when making their investment decisions.

Investment process

The approach to stock selection is primarily "bottom up", and starts with research on individual stocks and sectors. The managers seek to thoroughly investigate the dynamics of each potential holding and to find a specific reason to invest. The managers attempt to control risk by only investing in stocks that they have researched themselves.
