Why I bought KGC April 17, 2008
I had held Royal Gold (RGLD) and made a nice profit. However, over time, it started really underperforming the gold sector. So I was looking for a new gold play. My criteria were: a multi-year track record of consistent performance, relatively large cap. In addition, I like to have a good feeling about the company I invest in. Why I originally bought EMR March 31, 2008
Since 1980, this stock has consistently doubled about once every six years. Every five years if you disregard the burst of the tech bubble and aftereffects of 9/11. In addition, they pay a reasonably sized dividend. They are very diversified internationally, and supply basic industrial equipment that continues to be needed by the big emerging economies as they build their infrastructure.

How I tripled my money March 27, 2008
I started about 3 yrs before inception of my covestor account by buying RGLD. When it doubled, I put half in PBR. When it doubled I put half in EMR. Those moves tripled my original investment.

I have for years believed that the govt. is printing dollars and that the only reason we have not see massive inflation reported is a) Chinese and others invest their dollars back into us treasuries, b) inflation is purposely under-reported and has actually been higher. So I wanted a stock that tracks the value of "real" money.
