  • No more stupid puns April 30, 2008

    It seems that some reports have shown that the using ISRG's davinci robot is better for patients and for the hospital managers, insurance companies, and doctors.  Two winners, no losers.  Chicken Dinner.  True technology does not make for a zero sum game.  Really good technological products decrease friction along the path to a goal.  In this case those goals are simply: a quick and healthful recovery for the patients and decreased variable costs for the hospital.

  • Men's Where house? April 30, 2008

    No real interesting thesis here.  My guess is they are starting to make good on the acquisition of AH Formal Wear.  Trading at a P/E of 9.  I agree with some of the critics that fine men's wear probably turns down with the economy.  Lower end clothiers likely won't be hit as hard and there's a possibility that a large unemployment line could be a boon for those looking to get back into the job market when things start to look a little better.  We'll see how things go up to earnings.

  • I SURGE and then I get burned by fast moving tech companies, but... April 21, 2008


    Intellectually I believe in the value stock proposition: identify market undervalued equities, take a position, and allow for the inefficiency to correct itself.  After all the stock price should reflect the net present value for all future divs/earns or whatever proxy you want to use for value created for the shareholder and the market should correct for mispricings.

    But practically and emotionally, I'm quick to jump into the tech sector.  The first reason for this is that I am a techie at heart......
